8. Gasoline Pony – Marrickville
We love this place! If you’re in town grabbing a pork roll, why not take a load off and strap yourself in for some of Sydney’s best alternative music at The Gasoline Pony. Accommodating Sydney’s up and coming artists, you won’t be disappointed with the music, atmosphere or the eclectic decor. P.S. the dumplings are pretty awesome too.

4. Frankie’s pizza – CBD
Famous for its wood fired pizza by the slice, live music and pinball machines, Frankie’s pizza is a hit any night of the week. Feeling adventurous? Why not check out the hidden bar within Frankie’s pizza that’s aptly named; Frankie’s Fun Room. Keep an eye out for the glowing escape sign not too far from the pinball machines and you’ll find the hidden door to access Frankie’s Fun Room.

Set over 3 levels and situated just outside Sydney’s Lockout Zone, Valve Bar is surely one of the Best Live Music Venues in Sydney. Formerly situated in Tempe, Valve Bar’s new home accommodates over 350 people and has a license to stay open until 4am – yay.
Whilst The Valve Bar is known for it’s rock and indie line up’s, it also hosts emerging artists ranging from Dubstep to House.

2. Lazy Bones Lounge – Marrickville
Located in the heart of Marrickville, Lazy Bones Lounge is reminiscent of a New York jazz bar with it’s ambience and impressive selection of cocktails. Featuring a decent number of live music acts each week, it’s welcoming atmosphere makes it, in our eyes, one of the Best Live Music Venues in Sydney.

1. The Newsagency – Marrickville
Number 1 on our list of Best Live Music Venues in Sydney, and our personal favourite is The Newsagency. Having moved from it’s Marrickville venue, The Newsagency is now situated aobve Wayward Brewery and holds up to 100 people.
BYO food and drinks makes this a pretty special place where music is definitely the focus. Dimly lit with school chairs, couches and milk crates to take in the vibes, The Newsagency is dedicated to showcasing Australian independent musicians and is definitely worthy of a visit.
